The Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir Government Medical College & Associated Hospitals, Kathua, has issued Advertisement Notice No. 05 GMCK of 2024 dated May 28, 2024, inviting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Medical Officer at the Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF) under the National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre (NDDTC). The role is on a contractual basis, initially for one year, extendable yearly based on performance and conduct or as long as the centrally Sponsored Scheme continues.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Educational Qualification: MBBS from a recognized institution with Medical Council Registration is required. Preference will be given to candidates with an MD or equivalent qualification in Psychiatry.
Remuneration:
- Salary: ₹60,000 per month.
Selection Criteria:
- MBBS – 80 points
- Viva-voce – 20 points
In the event of a tie between MBBS and MD Psychiatry candidates, preference is given to the MD candidate. Among MBBS candidates, the one with higher marks will be preferred.
General Instructions:
Candidates must carefully read the terms and conditions before applying. All applications must be complete and accompanied by relevant documents. These should be submitted to the office of the Principal, GMC, Kathua (Administrative Block) before 01:00 PM on June 22, 2024.
The shortlisting ratio is 1:10 based on merit as per selection criteria, and the list will be announced on the official GMC Kathua website (https://gmckathua.in/).
Terms & Conditions:
- Candidates must be domiciles of UT of J&K.
- On joining, the candidate must sign a contract that they will not seek regular appointment/extension at the end of the contract period.
- No TA/DA will be provided for attending interviews/viva-voce.
- If the last date to apply falls on a holiday, the next working day is considered the final day for application submission.
- Applications should be marked as “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF MEDICAL OFFICER UNDER ATF” where applicable.
- Hiring is on a contract basis for one year, renewable yearly or until the continuation of the Scheme, whichever is sooner. Termination can occur at any time without cause by either party, subject to terms detailed in the notice.
- All required documents must be submitted by the last date; failure to do so may result in disqualification.
- The GMC Kathua administration reserves rights to modify the number of available positions.
- False information or withholding information may lead to disqualification from future applications for 2 years.
- Candidates must provide a one-month notice before terminating the contract.
